Job summary

Hoxton Circle in San Francisco, CA, is partnering with a PE-backed commercial products business to hire a Vice President of Accounting who will shape how accounting runs. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll own accounting end to end, with payroll and FP&A alongside you.

It’s a hands-on seat: you’ll stay close to the close and the detail while leading and developing a team across AP, AR and general accounting. The right person will set the standards, processes and controls the business grows into.

Qualifications

• Controller with 3+ years in the seat; not a step‑up role.
• M&A integration experience, including ASC 805.
• Inventory accounting experience in distribution/manufacturing.
• Hands‑on leader with a track record of managing and developing people.
• Active CPA.
• Systems implementation experience a plus.
• Interest in using AI and automation to improve finance.

Responsibilities

• Run month-, quarter-, and year-end close with GAAP financials on tight timelines.
• Lead and develop the accounting team, with several direct reports.
• Own inventory accounting across warehouse locations, including costing, reserves and counts.
• Lead purchase accounting and integration for acquisitions.
• Own internal controls, policies, and the annual audit relationship.
• Prepare lender and investor reporting, including covenant compliance.
• Drive system upgrades and push automation and AI across finance.

We’re partnering with a PE backed commercial products business on a VP of Accounting search. The company is in a build phase. It’s investing in its finance function, upgrading systems and pursuing acquisitions, and it needs a VP of Accounting who wants to shape how accounting runs.

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll own accounting end to end, with payroll and FP&A sitting alongside you. It’s a hands‑on seat: you’ll stay close to the close and the detail while leading and developing a team across AP, AR and general accounting. The right person will set the standards, processes and controls the business grows into.

What you’ll do

• Run the monthly, quarterly and year-end close and produce accurate GAAP financials on a tight timeline
• Lead and develop the accounting team, with several direct reports
• Own inventory accounting across warehouse locations, including costing, reserves and counts
• Lead purchase accounting and integration for acquisitions, bringing new businesses onto common processes and reporting
• Own internal controls, accounting policy and the annual audit relationship
• Prepare lender and investor reporting, including covenant compliance
• Act as the accounting lead on systems and reporting upgrades, and push automation and practical use of AI across the function

What you’ll bring

• Currently a Controller, with around three or more years in the seat. This is not a step‑up role
• Hands‑on M&A integration experience, including purchase accounting under ASC 805
• Solid inventory accounting experience, ideally in distribution, wholesale or manufacturing
• A very hands‑on style, with a track record of managing and developing people
• Active CPA
• Systems implementation experience is a plus
• Real interest in using AI and automation to improve how finance works

Compensation and logistics

• Base salary: $185,000 to $220,000, plus a 20% target bonus
