Job summary

Atlas Search is seeking a hands-on VP of Finance / Controller to build the finance function for a PE-backed, multi-site platform. You will own controllership, month-end close, consolidation, and lead the ERP rollout as acquisitions scale.

Based in the Southeast with travel, you will partner with the executive team, lenders, and investors, driving cash flow discipline, internal controls, and standardized reporting across locations.

Qualifications

• CPA required
• 10+ years in accounting, controllership, and finance
• Experience with month-end close and consolidations
• Multi-location or multi-entity experience
• Track record in acquisitive environments and post-merger integration
• Led ERP or finance systems implementation end-to-end
• Strong cash and inventory controls
• Proven ability to hire and develop accounting/finance talent

Responsibilities

• Own monthly close, consolidation, and GAAP reporting for the platform and operating companies
• Set a consistent close calendar and reporting framework across regions
• Build robust cash, inventory, and internal controls across multiple locations
• Deliver consolidated reporting, KPIs, and location-level economics to management, Board, lenders, and investors
• Lead ERP selection and rollout and integrate with data systems
• Manage financial integration of acquisitions, including COA conversion and opening balance sheets
• Partner with investment team on M&A diligence and post-close integration
• Standardize accounting practices across controllers and finance teams at acquired entities
• Build and develop a centralized platform finance team
• Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, lenders, and financial partners
• Oversee platform-level expenses and payroll with potential to implement PEO/benefits administration

VP of Finance / Controller | PE-Backed Multi-Site Platform | Remote (Southern US-Based) with Travel

Want to build a finance function from the ground up while a platform scales through acquisition?

We’re partnering with a private equity-backed company that is growing rapidly through acquisitions across multiple locations. They need a hands-on VP of Finance / Controller to build the systems, processes, controls, and team that will carry the business through its next phase of growth.

You’ll work directly with the executive team, Board, lenders, and investment team, and you’ll own controllership while shaping how every new acquisition is brought into the fold.

What you’ll do

• Own the monthly close, consolidation, and GAAP reporting across the platform and its operating companies
• Set a consistent close calendar and reporting framework across regional businesses and headquarters
• Build strong cash, inventory, and internal controls across a multi-location operation
• Deliver consolidated reporting, KPIs, and location-level unit economics to management, the Board, lenders, and investors
• Lead the selection and rollout of the ERP and broader finance tech stack, including integration with operating and data systems
• Run the financial integration of acquisitions: chart-of-accounts conversion, opening balance sheets, purchase accounting, banking and payroll cutovers, and close integration
• Partner with the investment team on M&A diligence, working-capital analysis, and post-close integration
• Standardize accounting practices across controllers and finance teams at acquired companies
• Build and develop a centralized platform finance team
• Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, lenders, and financial partners
• Oversee platform-level expenses and payroll, with the potential to implement PEO/benefits administration

What you bring

• CPA
• 10+ years of progressive accounting, controllership, and finance experience
• Deep expertise in month-end close, consolidations, GAAP, and internal controls
• Multi-location or multi-entity experience
• A track record in a highly acquisitive organization, including integrating acquired businesses
• Personally led an ERP or finance systems implementation end to end
• Strong cash and inventory control experience
• Proven ability to assess, hire, lead, and develop accounting and finance talent
