Hoxton Circle is partnering with a private equity-backed, multi-state company in Northern California to hire a VP of Accounting. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll own accounting operations, the monthly close and financial reporting for a company of $400M+ in revenue that is growing through acquisition and organically.
This is a chance to build. The company is investing in its finance function, and you’ll have real ownership of the close, controls and processes, with room to grow as the business scales. It’s a hands-on seat. You’ll lead the team and still get into the detail when it’s needed.
Why this role
- Build it your way. You’ll design the close, controls, policies and processes, lead the team, and work closely with operations, FP&A and leadership.
- Learn from a seasoned CFO. You’ll report to a CFO who has run a business more than twice this size and loves mentoring. He’s proud that several of his former direct reports have gone on to become CFOs and Chief Accounting Officers. He wants you to want his job, and he wants to get you there.
- Get the experience that makes a CFO or CAO. Board and sponsor reporting, lender reporting, acquisition diligence and integration, quality of earnings, refinancing and exit prep down the road.
- Shape the tech stack. The company is investing in its systems and reporting tools, and you’ll have a real say in what gets built.
- Get exposure to the Strategic Finance/FP&A side if wanted. Opportunity to learn Strategic Finance to broaden your knowledge scope.
- AI-forward leadership. The team uses AI day to day and wants someone who will spend time learning how to best utilize.
The PE firm
I work with this PE firm across several of its portfolio companies and have gotten to know them personally over the years.
- I can tell you firsthand they are the brightest, most humble and best leaders around. Somehow they defy all the negative PE stereotypes and show all the positive ones. They are great strategic partners to their operators, they work hard, they roll up their sleeves and they take care of their people.
- If you are successful at one portfolio company, the entire network of other portfolio companies is there for your next promotion.
- This VP of Accounting role is a strong launching point for bigger finance leadership roles across the portfolio.
