Job summary

Apex Group is seeking a Manager - Fund Accounting Private Equity (VP level) to join our team. You will service clients, act as an extension to their finance organization, and oversee fund, portfolio, and cash accounting processes.

Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, capital calls, IRR calculations, and coordinating audits, while working with private equity structures and LPAs. Strong communication and supervisory skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required.
• 6-10 years of professional experience (A mix of private and audit preferred).
• Minimum 3-6 years of direct Private Equity experience (Hedge Funds do not count as relevant experience).
• CPA Preferred.
• Strong Fund and Partner accounting knowledge.
• Credit funds exposure.
• Portfolio accounting, complex investment structures preferred.
• Supervisory experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated with ability to multitask.
• Experience in fund accounting with a focus on private equity experience.
• Knowledge with LPA or other governing documents.
• Experience with waterfall calculations.
• Basic knowledge of Level 3 valuation methodologies.
• Experience with audit process, including internal control and test of details.
• Knowledge of US GAAP with an emphasis on investment partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work papers including investment activity, management fee calculations, IRR, and waterfall calculations.
• Review fund reimbursable expenses.
• Prepare capital calls and distributions, sources/uses of cash, allocations, and investor notices.
• Prepare fund financial statements with footnotes and schedules.
• Prepare partner allocations and statements of capital.
• Review LPAs, purchase/sales agreements, and side letters.
• Coordinate and support SSAE 16 audits and fund audits.
• Support the tax team with information to prepare tax compliance/reports.
• Assist with other regulatory reporting.
• Handle investor and partner queries (audit confirmations, cash flow, IRR).
• Bank and brokerage reconciliations for cash forecasting and budgeting.
• Ad hoc financial analysis for clients.
• Assist with credit facility drawdowns.
• Track portfolio company transactions and complex investment structures.
• Calculate investment IRR and account for holding and blocker entities.
