Job summary

Synchrony is seeking a seasoned VP of Authentication Services to lead the enterprise identity program. You will own the workforce and B2B identity perimeters, architect high-throughput SSO/MFA/passwordless pipelines, and guide a global engineering org to deliver secure, scalable authentication.

You’ll drive platform strategy, design secure patterns, and partner with execs to align initiatives with business goals, all while ensuring 24/7 operations and strong governance across critical

Qualifications

• Education as stated or equivalent enterprise IT experience.
• Experience: 10+ years in enterprise IT engineering.
• Okta specialization: 5+ years designing, scaling, operating Okta identity cloud.
• Leadership: 5+ years leading distributed engineering teams.
• Proficiency with identity protocols: SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, WS-Fed, SCIM.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Own workforce authentication strategy focusing on security and user experience.
• Implement trends in authentication/authorization to improve security and UX.
• Direct product management and roadmaps for core authentication technologies (Okta, YubiKeys, FIDO2/WebAuthn).
• Partner with leadership to build data-driven business cases for high-value initiatives.
• Architect secure production-grade authentication patterns and zero-trust reference architectures.
• Lead 24/7 engineering/operations for high availability and incident response.
• Oversee application authentication/authorization integrations.
