Job summary

Synchrony is seeking a seasoned VP of Authentication Services to lead a high-performance engineering org responsible for SSO, MFA, passwordless, and zero-trust initiatives. You will shape the authentication strategy, direct platform roadmaps, and ensure top-tier security and user experience across workforce and B2B perimeters.

You will own distributed systems design, 24/7 operations, and cross-functional collaboration with security, infrastructure, and product teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a STEM field.
Alternative Education: High School Diploma / GED with 15+ years IT engineering experience.
Minimum 10 years of total enterprise IT engineering experience.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on Okta design, scale, and operations experience.
Minimum 5 years of leadership of distributed, cross-functional teams.
Expert identity and cryptographic protocol mastery: SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, WS-Fed, SCIM.
Willingness to travel for business purposes.

Responsibilities

Own workforce authentication strategy focusing on security and user experience.
Conceptualize and implement leading authentication trends and strategies.
Direct product management and roadmaps for core auth technologies (Okta, MFA, Passwordless).
Partner with senior leadership to justify and prioritize high-value initiatives.
Design secure production authentication patterns and zero-trust architectures.
Manage 24/7 engineering and operations for high-availability authentication services.
Oversee app integration and ensure timely authentication/authorization.
Enforce authentication policies, compliance, and risk metrics.
