Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Vice President, Business Development to lead growth strategy, identify attractive markets, and prioritize strategic opportunities from strategy through execution. The role requires proven experience in growth, business development, and M&A, with the ability to move quickly, build executive credibility, and mentor BD talent.

You will partner with product, finance, legal, and operations to evaluate opportunities and position the company as a credible long-term owner.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in growth strategy, business development, corporate development, or strategy consulting.
• Strong business operations experience, including P&L management.
• Exposure to M&A, acquisitions, or partnerships with fast execution.
• Ability to rapidly learn new industries and identify adjacencies.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to translate market insights into growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute growth strategy identifying priority markets and targets.
• Lead funnel management for strategic opportunities with clear visibility.
• Assess acquisitions, partnerships, and investments with value creation.
• Collaborate with leaders across functions to accelerate diligence and decisions.
• Apply an operator’s lens to determine value sources and sustainable performance.
• Build trust with owners, founders, and external stakeholders.
• Mentor BD talent and develop future leaders.
• Represent the company externally as a credible acquirer and long-term owner.
