Job summary

Spring Health is seeking a VP, Privacy Officer to lead the US and Global privacy strategy, reporting to the General Counsel and partnering with Security, Product, and Engineering. This full-time, remote-friendly role favors NYC-area candidates with periodic travel to our NYC headquarters.

You will oversee privacy program design, risk assessments, incident response, and regulatory relationships, while guiding cross-functional teams through complex HIPAA and GDPR compliance in a high-growth health

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
• 12+ years of legal experience, with at least 8 years of privacy, data protection, or healthcare privacy.

Responsibilities

• Serve as US Privacy and Global Data Protection Officer, providing strategic leadership for privacy and data protection.
• Lead and mentor the privacy legal team to ensure cohesive US and Global operations.
• Develop compliant strategies at the intersection of healthcare privacy and AI to enable innovation while managing risk.
• Architect and scale a privacy framework for expansion into new markets while complying with GDPR, HIPAA, and local regulations.
• Advise executives on privacy implications of emerging technologies, including AI in clinical settings.
• Oversee enterprise privacy risk assessments and promote Privacy by Design in product development.
• Direct the company’s data incident and breach response, managing regulatory relationships and notifications.
• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success during complex Fortune 500 negotiations on privacy terms.
• Define and maintain external/internal privacy policies to ensure transparency with members, customers, and providers.
• Partner with People Team to protect employee data with the same rigor as member data.
