J.P. Morgan is seeking an experienced External Communications Manager Vice President within Commercial Banking to lead media relations for Innovation Economy and Specialized Industries. You will advise senior leaders, translate complex topics into clear strategies and protect the firm's reputation in fast-moving sectors.

You will shape external narratives, elevate executive visibility and partner across Communications, Marketing, Legal and Risk to execute coordinated programs.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in external communications, media relations or corporate comms.
• Proven ability to build relationships with reporters covering tech, life sciences, startups, VC, finance and banking.
• Strong understanding of commercial banking, financial services and startup/VC ecosystems.
• Excellent writing/editing skills; ability to simplify complex topics for external audiences.
• Sound judgement advising senior executives on media/communications strategy.
• Experience leading proactive media campaigns and handling sensitive issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute external comms strategies for Commercial Banking, focusing on Innovation Economy and Specialized Industries.
• Advise senior executives on media engagement, positioning and visibility; lead proactive media campaigns tied to priorities.
• Manage reactive inquiries and reputational matters with clear counsel.
• Elevate executives through interviews, conferences and speaking engagements.
• Prepare executives with messaging, briefing materials and media training.
• Coordinate media interview logistics and follow-ups; ensure compliance approvals.
• Support social media amplification post-events and engagements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders for aligned communications across the firm.
• Monitor media trends and competitive activity to identify risks and opportunities.
• Measure and report on outcomes to inform strategy.
