Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York seeks an experienced External Communications Manager Vice President to lead media relations for the Innovation Economy and Specialized Industries within Commercial Banking.

You will shape external narratives, elevate executive visibility, and protect the firm’s reputation in fast-moving sectors. You will advise senior business leaders, translate complex topics into clear communications strategies, and build strong relationships with reporters covering technology,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of agency or in-house external communications experience
• Proven relationships with reporters covering technology, life sciences, startups, venture capital, finance and banking
• Strong understanding of commercial banking, financial services and startup ecosystem
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Sound judgment advising senior executives on media strategy
• Experience managing proactive media campaigns and reactive inquiries
• Ability to work with senior leaders and cross-functional partners
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Analytical approach to problem solving
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to assess risk and uphold compliance and firm standards

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute external communications strategies for Commercial Banking focusing on Innovation Economy and Specialized Industries and maintain relationships with key reporters
• Advise senior executives on media engagement, executive positioning, reputation management and external visibility
• Lead proactive media campaigns aligned with business priorities and client insights
• Manage reactive inquiries and sensitive issues with clear counsel
• Elevate executives through interviews, conferences and speaking engagements
• Prepare executives for media and speaking engagements with messaging and media training
• Coordinate logistics for media interviews and background conversations
• Ensure approvals, disclosures and compliance for public appearances and media activity
• Support social media amplification after events and engagements
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align communications with firm standards
• Monitor media coverage, trends and competitive activity to identify risks and opportunities
• Measure and report on communications outcomes and media impact
