Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. seeks an experienced External Communications Manager Vice President to lead media relations for the Innovation Economy and Specialized Industries within Commercial Banking.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of agency or in-house external communications experience.
• Proven relationships with reporters covering technology, life sciences, startups, venture capital, finance and banking.
• Strong understanding of commercial banking, financial services and startup/venture ecosystem.
• Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to simplify complex topics for external audiences.
• Sound judgment with experience advising senior executives on media and communications strategy.
• Experience managing proactive media campaigns, reactive inquiries and sensitive issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute external communications strategies for Commercial Banking focusing on Innovation Economy and Specialized Industries; build relationships with key reporters.
• Advise senior executives on media engagement, positioning, reputation management and external visibility; lead proactive media campaigns.
• Manage reactive media inquiries, including sensitive issues and reputational matters.
• Identify opportunities to elevate executives through interviews, conferences and speaking engagements.
• Prepare executives for media and speaking engagements, including messaging and media training.
• Coordinate logistics for media interviews and background conversations; ensure compliance processes for public appearances.
• Support social media amplification after events and engagements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align communications with firm standards.
• Monitor media coverage, industry trends and competitive activity; identify risks and opportunities.
• Measure and report on communications outcomes and media impact.
