Job summary

Ares Management is seeking a highly skilled Vice President of AI Platform Engineering to design, build, and scale the enterprise AI platform. This role is hands-on, working within the central Data & AI organization to deliver reusable platform services and governance across AI initiatives.

You will own major platform components, develop APIs and tooling, and collaborate with AI Engineering, Data Engineering, Product, Cybersecurity, and business teams to deploy secure, scalable AI applications.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering, data engineering, machine learning engineering, or related experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building Generative AI, LLM, ML, or AI platform solutions in production.
• Strong Python engineering skills and production-quality software.
• Experience designing APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native apps.
• Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform, preferably Azure.
• Experience with containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience building LLM apps using RAG, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, tools or agent workflows.
• Familiarity with model evaluation, observability, production monitoring, and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production-grade AI platform services for enterprise use.
• Own major platform components from design through deployment and operation.
• Develop reusable APIs, SDKs, services, and developer tooling for AI applications.
• Contribute to architecture, standards, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with AI engineering and architecture leaders on technical decisions.
• Provide code reviews, mentorship, and guide AI engineers.
