About the opportunity:

We are seeking a VP, Engineering to join our executive team! Having achieved profitability in early 2024, we aim to scale from 5M to 50M customers and build a $10B business. We prioritize hiring top talent who can hire, develop, and lead our engineering team intentionally. Our focus is on building a small, high-caliber team that remains lean, agile, and capable of big achievements.

At Jerry, we are creating the first AllCar super app to make car ownership affordable and accessible. Since 2019, we’ve launched various features including insurance, driving insights, diagnostics, and a GPT-4 chatbot. We are close to establishing the first truly connected ecosystem for car owners and are looking for a VP of Engineering to lead our software engineering efforts. Reporting to our co-founder/CTO, you will manage and scale our engineering team, mentor engineers, and ensure high-quality, rapid execution across the organization. How you will make an impact:

• Lead our engineering organization (~50 engineers), supervising managers and tech leads to ensure high-quality and fast execution.

• Enhance talent density by hiring top engineers and investing in their development. Implement performance evaluation frameworks across teams.

• Set ambitious goals for engineering teams, fostering continuous learning and growth. Remove obstacles to progress.

• Identify and optimize processes to maximize output and anticipate scaling challenges.

• Foster a collaborative, ambitious, and outcome-oriented culture.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, data science, marketing, and operations.

Ideal profile:

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.

• 15+ years of engineering experience with increasing responsibilities, including experience as an individual contributor in complex environments.

• Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams at early-to-mid stage startups, managing at least 50+ engineers.

• Strong technical mastery with a curiosity for learning and improvement.

• A strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability.
