What We're Looking For:

The VP of Engineering at 2U, Inc. will be the next Technology Executive to join 2U's innovative mission and to become part of its dynamic and invigorating culture. You will lead product innovation, as well as process and operational change in our New York City office. Taking an active, creative, and practical approach, you will work closely with the CTO, the product development team, and other technology leaders to achieve strategic goals.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in developing cutting-edge products and managing operations across multiple initiatives. Relevant skills and experience are essential, along with an interest in our mission and shared values of 2U.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Establish business processes aligned with the objectives of the 2U TechDev group.
2. Collaborate with the CTO to strategize and innovate future initiatives.
3. Evaluate and recommend solutions to improve company-wide productivity and resource utilization.
4. Implement engineering KPIs and monitoring to establish best practices.
5. Partner with internal coaches to ensure the delivery of technically excellent and valuable software.
6. Make confident, innovative decisions impacting 2U's technology and business.
7. Oversee CRM consolidation and various Learning Management Systems.
8. Proactively utilize AI tools for process automation and SDLC improvements.

Education and Experience:

• 10+ years of leadership in environments with robust technical products and innovation.
• Excellent judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Experience leveraging cutting-edge technologies at an enterprise level.
• Proven ability to understand and execute a product vision.
• Discretion in buy vs. build decisions.
• Process management experience in a dynamic SDLC environment.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Additional Attributes:

• Experience with data products and learning-focused product management.
• Strong technical skills; familiarity with Python, JavaScript, MongoDB, Salesforce, Jira, AWS.
• Knowledge of Agile/XP practices like TDD, pair programming, CI.
• Experience with Generative AI and automation tools.
• Proven track record of successful technology choices in corporate infrastructure.
• Innovative decision-making and adaptability.
• Start-up experience is a plus.

Management Responsibilities:

This role is open to remote candidates across the U.S., with a preference for those in the Washington-Baltimore area, who can visit our Arlington, VA headquarters twice a week.
