Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a VP of Energy Solutions to lead strategy, engineering, and commercial structuring for power infrastructure supporting hyperscale data centers across North America.

The role oversees utility-connected and behind-the-meter projects, drives interconnection negotiations, and guides multi-disciplinary teams to deliver reliable, scalable power systems enabling rapid data-center deployment and long-term operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or energy systems.
• Minimum 15 years in power infrastructure or hyperscale data center development.
• Minimum 5 years in senior leadership roles.
• Experience delivering utility-scale and behind-the-meter power projects.
• Strong knowledge of generation, transmission, distribution, substations, and SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's overall power strategy for multi-site hyperscale and AI data center developments.
• Lead planning, development, engineering, and delivery of utility-connected and behind-the-meter power solutions.
• Direct all utility interconnection activities, including coordination, system studies, and interconnection agreements.
• Develop and implement behind-the-meter energy strategies including gas generation, microgrids, and energy storage.
• Lead commercial negotiations for EPC, EPCM, OEM supply, PPAs, and major equipment procurement.
• Oversee electrical engineering activities related to substations, transmission, protection, controls, and SCADA.
• Establish technical standards, design criteria, and governance across projects.
• Develop procurement strategies for long-lead electrical equipment.
• Provide executive oversight through project development, construction, energization, and operation.
