Job summary

Planet Labs PBC is seeking a seasoned executive to lead the Defense and Intelligence Solutions Engineering organization in a hybrid role based in the US. You will own architecture, systems development, and delivery of flagship dual-use products, working with product, platform, and leadership teams to transform raw satellite imagery into scalable software solutions.

You will guide multi-disciplinary teams across software, AI/ML, analytics, and forward deployed engineering, ensuring ITAR/EAR

Qualifications

15+ years of experience in software engineering and systems architecture for high-scale data/geo apps.
8+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering orgs (software, data/ML, platform, cloud).
Experience with ITAR/EAR governance in engineering teams.
Track record building and operating end-to-end dual-use or defense software at scale.
Active high-level government security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Lead multi-disciplinary software engineering teams across software, data/ML, platform, and infrastructure.
Define software architecture, data models, and standards for high-throughput geospatial analytics.
Oversee ITAR/EAR compliant deployment pipelines and regulatory compliance.
Partner with Product Management to translate mission requirements into scalable roadmaps and sprints.
Direct the integration of ML models and agentic workflows into Planet's stack.
Drive reliability, low-latency processing, and secure cloud architectures across environments.
