Job summary

Planet Labs PBC in Denver, CO is seeking a Vice President of Defense and Intelligence Solutions Engineering to lead the software engineering organization responsible for dual-use products like Global Monitoring Service and Marine Domain Awareness. You will own architecture, systems development, and delivery, overseeing ITAR/EAR compliance and secure pipelines.

This executive role partners with Product Management and Leadership to translate mission requirements into scalable roadmaps, while

Qualifications

15+ years of experience in software engineering and systems architecture, esp. high-scale data/geospatial applications.
8+ years of direct experience leading and scaling multi-disciplinary engineering organizations.
Experience with ITAR/EAR governed data handling and defense software.
Track record architecting and operating end-to-end dual-use or defense software at scale.

Responsibilities

Lead multi-disciplinary software engineering teams (software, data/ML, platform, infrastructure).
Define software architecture, data models, and standards for high-throughput geospatial analytics.
Ensure ITAR/EAR compliance across development and deployment pipelines.
Translate market vision and defense requirements into scalable engineering roadmaps and sprints.
Direct integration of ML models and agentic workflows into the product stack.
Drive metrics, reliability, low-latency processing, and secure cloud deployment across environments.
