Job summary

Morgan Stanley invites a Vice President to join the CTIS Risk Coverage team focused on digital assets. You will oversee risk across custody, trading, and distributed ledger infrastructure, challenging risk decisions and guiding remediation with business and technology stakeholders.

You will shape the firm’s approach to managing digital asset risks in a rapidly evolving landscape and support non-financial risk initiatives across the firm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in technology and/or security risk, preferably in financial services with digital assets.
• Strong understanding of blockchain, Web3, crypto trading, custody, tokenization and digital identity.
• Experience in risk management and/or risk audits related to digital assets or distributed ledgers is a plus.
• Certifications such as CISM, CISA, CISSP are a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to tailor to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Drive independent reviews of digital asset risk exposures across custody, trading, blockchain infrastructure, tokenized assets and supporting platforms
• Provide subject matter expertise and independent oversight of key digital asset risk areas: private key, wallet security, smart contracts, blockchain resilience, third‑party dependencies, and transaction monitoring risks
• Identify and accelerate material control gaps affecting confidentiality, integrity, and availability to senior management/governance
• Improve risk visibility through metrics, reporting, and scenario analysis
• Influence business and tech leaders on remediation priorities and risk acceptance decisions
• Prepare for regulatory meetings and respond to regulatory queries
• Build strong relationships with CTIS and digital asset ecosystem teams as a trusted advisor
• Engage with 2nd line units to assess risk impact on business processes
• Report on evolving tech and security risk issues and incidents in the digital asset ecosystem
• Support CTIS regulatory obligations for digital assets and DLTs
• Coach and train resources within the NFR CTIS team
