Job summary

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden seeks a Vice President of Development to lead philanthropic and membership programs, driving revenue and engagement aligned with the Arboretum’s mission.

This senior leader collaborates with the Chief Advancement Officer, board, volunteers, and staff to advance donor engagement, plan campaigns, and ensure ethical fundraising best practices across all programs.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated nonprofit philanthropy experience required.
  • Experience leading development and membership programs.
  • CFRE credential strongly preferred or obtainable within first year.
  • 12+ years in progressively responsible development roles, preferably in cultural/nonprofit environments.
  • Proven track record of fundraising goals and donor cultivation.
  • Strong public speaking and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a 3–5 year philanthropic and membership strategy.
  • Lead annual operating and long-term revenue plans (development + membership).
  • Oversee major gifts, corporate relations, foundations, and events.
  • Manage membership acquisition, retention, upgrades, and stewardship.
  • Lead and mentor the development and membership teams.
