Job summary

Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Dallas, TX seeks a Vice President, Software Engineering to design, deploy, and maintain database environments (SingleStore, MongoDB, Sybase, and cloud databases) to support mission-critical applications.

You will develop best practices for database administration, backup/recovery, monitoring, and performance optimization, while partnering with IAM and middleware teams to ensure robust identity and entitlement controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/IS or related field with 5 years in related role; or Master's with 3 years of related experience.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases: MySQL, SingleStore, DB2, MongoDB, Cassandra.
• Experience with SingleStore DB environments; distributed systems and Big Data platforms (Hadoop/HDFS/YARN).
• Proficient in Python and Unix shell scripting for automation, monitoring, and ETL workflows.
• Experience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka; SQL/NoSQL query languages and tuning; cloud infra (AWS or Azure).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain database environments (SingleStore, MongoDB, Sybase, and cloud databases) to support mission-critical applications.
• Develop and implement best practices for database administration, including backup/recovery, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with IAM and middleware teams to integrate identity and entitlement best practices into the database ecosystem for security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments for growing data volumes and user traffic.
• Advance database release processes and SDLC integration, including automated performance and scale tests.
• Stay current with industry trends and propose innovative data platform solutions.
• Design, implement and maintain robust testing suites for safe, complete, scalable solutions.
