• Experience in data center development, CRE, or large-scale industrial infrastructure is beneficial.

Role Description

The VP Data Center Site Selection is a full-time, remote role, responsible for leading the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of data center sites in power-constrained markets. This role oversees end-to-end site selection activities, including technical due diligence on land, power, and fiber, assessment of regulatory and zoning conditions, and alignment with client and investor requirements. The VP will build and maintain relationships with utilities, local jurisdictions, landowners, and development partners to secure viable paths to energization and approvals. Day-to-day tasks include managing complex cross-functional projects, directing market and feasibility analyses, shaping site selection strategy, and collaborating with internal teams on civil design, power interconnection, and entitlement. The position also contributes to capital partnership discussions, supports joint venture structuring, and ensures each site is delivered as a build-ready asset that meets Vulcan Development’s standards.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Information Technology and digital infrastructure, with experience understanding data center requirements and connectivity needs.
• Demonstrated IT Management and leadership capabilities, including overseeing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating technical stakeholders.
• Proven IT Strategy and Strategic Planning skills, with a track record of developing and executing site selection and infrastructure growth strategies.
• Robust Project Management experience managing complex, multi-phase development projects from site identification through entitlement and pre-construction.
• Experience in data center development, commercial real estate, or large-scale industrial infrastructure is highly beneficial.
• Ability to build and sustain relationships with utilities, municipal authorities, landowners, and capital partners.
• Advanced analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with comfort handling high-value transactions and long time horizons.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Information Technology, Business, Real Estate, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is a plus.
