A leading global data center developer and operator is seeking a Director of Real Estate Site Selection to support the continued growth of its U.S. portfolio.
The company operates more than 40 data centers globally across the United States, Europe, and Asia, delivering hyperscale, build-to-suit, colocation, and interconnection infrastructure for major technology and enterprise customers.

The Role
The Director of Real Estate Site Selection will lead the identification, evaluation, acquisition, entitlement, and early development of new data center sites across the United States.
This individual will help shape location strategy, manage land transactions, coordinate technical and commercial due diligence, and build a pipeline of high-quality sites capable of progressing into construction.
The role will work closely with landowners, developers, utilities, local jurisdictions, consultants, attorneys, engineers, and internal development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead market strategy, site identification, and land acquisition across priority U.S. markets
- Evaluate sites across land, power, utilities, infrastructure, environmental risk, entitlements, cost, and development timelines
- Negotiate purchase agreements, options, easements, development agreements, and other complex real estate arrangements
- Manage zoning, permitting, rezoning, land-use, and entitlement processes
- Build and manage external teams of engineers, consultants, attorneys, and specialist advisors
- Interpret technical due diligence and translate findings into commercial recommendations
- Develop relationships with landowners, utilities, local government officials, and community stakeholders
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, legal, finance, tax, external affairs, and commercial teams
- Prepare transaction summaries, risk assessments, financial approvals, and executive presentations
- Support projects from early site identification through acquisition, development, and construction readiness
- Direct data center experience is essential and candidates without data center industry experience will not be considered
- Strong preference for candidates from a hyperscale data center background, although broader experience across colocation, wholesale, build-to-suit, or other large-scale data center platforms will be considered
- 5+ years of experience in data center site selection, land acquisition, real estate development, or project development
- Experience negotiating and executing complex real estate or commercial agreements
- Experience managing zoning, permitting, entitlements, and local jurisdiction processes
- Ability to assess site feasibility across power, utilities, infrastructure, environmental risk, access, and constructability
- Experience managing consultants, engineers, attorneys, and external stakeholders
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to interpret technical information
- Strong negotiation, communication, organisational, and project-management skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple complex projects
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Willingness to travel
Preferred Experience
- Experience working for a data center developer, owner-operator, or major cloud platform
- Strong understanding of power, water, wastewater, fiber, substation, and infrastructure requirements
- Experience presenting transactions or development opportunities to senior leadership
- Existing relationships with landowners, developers, brokers, utilities, consultants, or local jurisdictions
