Job summary

Freedom First Credit Union in Salem, VA is seeking a VP Branch Operations to direct and coordinate the activities of branch personnel in support of organizational, financial, operational, sales and growth plans. This role guides skill development, career growth, and branch objectives in a fast-paced banking environment.

The position requires 8–10 years of related experience and a 2-year degree or equivalent certification. Proficiency in Word/Excel and NMLS registration is essential.

Qualifications

  • Eight to ten years of similar or related experience.
  • Two-year college degree or equivalent certification or training.
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to motivate, influence, and train others.
  • Must have skills to use Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary liaison between branch teams and senior management to resolve operational issues and uphold regulatory requirements.
  • Provide sales and service leadership to Branch Managers in the Roanoke market while supporting member service and improving NPS.
  • Monitor office activity for compliance with regulations and internal policies regarding security, transactions, loans, and new accounts.
  • Open new accounts and submit loans for processing and decisioning; communicate disposition to member.

Salary Range: $100,000.00 To $125,000.00 Annually

Role:

To direct and coordinate the activities of personnel in Credit Union branches, ensuring the branches meet organizational, financial, operational, sales and service, and growth plans. Follow a strategic process of identifying and nurturing branch employee skills, potential and career growth to achieve branch objectives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • ( 40%) Serves as the primary liaison between branch teams and senior management to resolve operational issues, maintain service standards, and uphold regulatory requirements.
  • ( 20%) Provide sales and service leadership to assigned Branch Managers in the Roanoke market while supporting excellent member service and working to improve NPS.
  • ( 10%) Monitors all office activity for compliance to applicable regulations and adherence to organizational policy and procedures in regard to branch security, transactions, loans, errors, new accounts, and documents prepared by subordinate personnel.
  • ( 10%) Opens new accounts and submits loans for processing and decisioning; communicate disposition to member.
Performance Measurements:
  • Must comply with government and other regulations affecting the credit union industry including, but not limited to, OFAC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Meets or exceeds performance expectations as described in Essential Functions and Responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Eight to ten years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills: Skill and ability to use and operate a keyboard (typewriter), computer, calculator, fax machine, copier and telephone. Skill and ability to read and understand financial statements, contracts, applications, computer printouts, manuals and other related materials. Must have the skill and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
