Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Program Manager for Volunteer Services in the Community Affairs Volunteer Services department. You will oversee onboarding, training, and placement of volunteers to meet patient, family, and staff needs while providing a meaningful experience for volunteers.

The role requires strong writing, public speaking, and relationship-building skills, with independent and collaborative work style, planning ability, and comfort working with diverse groups.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional and supervisory experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Intermediate MS Office experience
• Volunteer recruitment/management experience is a plus, but not necessary
• Excellent writing ability and public speaking

Responsibilities

• Manage recruitment, intake and screening of all volunteers including processing applications, conducting interviews and facilitating placement
• Audit volunteer database, maintain records of status and requirements
• Design and deliver adult volunteer program orientations and trainings 5–10 times per month
• Collaborate with departments to maintain scheduling and sufficient volunteers
• Set schedules with volunteers and communicate changes to departments
• Attend local, state and national meetings and conferences
• Assist in design and delivery training for volunteer supervisors
• Monitor volunteer activity and troubleshoot performance issues
• Plan and facilitate educational volunteer opportunities
• Assist compliance and infection control to ensure HIPAA and policy compliance
• Lead planning and execution of Annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet
• Perform other duties as assigned
