Job summary

The Museum of Life and Science in Durham, NC seeks a Volunteer Coordinator to grow and manage a robust volunteer program that connects community members with meaningful opportunities. You will recruit, onboard, train, schedule, track, and report on volunteers while serving as a liaison across Museum departments.

Responsibilities include coordinating orientations, screenings, and training; matching volunteers to needs; fostering external relationships; and supporting events such as Dino Egg Hunt

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher secondary education required.
• Experience in customer service is preferred.
• Experience with volunteers or coordinating large groups is desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
• CPR/First aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attract and retain engaged volunteers through regular communications.
• Attend volunteer recruitment events and expand community engagement.
• Coordinate orientations, interviews, and background screenings.
• Match volunteers to department needs based on interests and availability.
• Foster external relationships to maintain an engaged volunteer pool.
• Develop and deliver volunteer training throughout the year.
• Track volunteer hours and prepare reports.
• Support volunteer recognition programs and special events.
