The role supports volunteer recruitment and onboarding, ensures volunteers understand policies and safety requirements, and matches skills to organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in volunteer management, volunteer engagement, nonprofit programs, operations coordination, community outreach, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate, and engage volunteers.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback.
  • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to creating positive volunteer and visitor experiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and utilize volunteer management and organizational software systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Program Coordination – Coordinate day-to-day activities related to recruiting, onboarding, training, engaging, retaining, and recognizing volunteers in support of organizational objectives.
  • Volunteer Operations Coordination – Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers supporting various areas of service.
  • Travel and Foster Volunteer Program – Serve as the primary operational liaison for volunteers supporting puppy transportation and travel programs.
  • Volunteer Scheduling and Utilization – Maintain volunteer schedules and assignments for daily operations, tours, events, and transportation needs.
  • Volunteer Recognition and Retention – Create and implement volunteer recognition programs and track milestones.
  • Visitor Experience and Community Engagement – Ensure a welcoming experience, coordinate tours and outreach activities.
  • Program Administration and Reporting – Maintain records, monitor metrics, and develop improvement recommendations.
  • Organizational Collaboration – Work across departments to identify opportunities for volunteer engagement.
