Job summary

Canine Companions in Santa Rosa, CA, is seeking a full-time Volunteer Program Manager to recruit, onboard, train, and engage volunteers across regions. You will coordinate onboarding, training, events, and recognition programs, and collaborate with chapters, regional staff, and HQ.

The role requires 2+ years in volunteer management, excellent communication, and willingness to travel; a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is expected, with CVA preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a volunteer management role
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
• Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking
• Ability to travel when necessary
• Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed

Responsibilities

• Volunteer Recruitment, Onboarding & Training: overview of program to applicants, interviews, orientation, mentor programs, training and evaluation of volunteers
• Coordinate monthly chapter leadership calls and act as liaison between chapters and regional staff
• Volunteer Engagement & Recognition: visit sites, organize recognitions, maintain bulletin boards, secure graduate speakers
• Event Planning & Volunteer Coordination: schedule presentations, campus tours, staff events, arrange equipment and materials
• Records & Data Management: maintain volunteer records in Salesforce, track hours, update guidelines
• Regional & Inter-Department Collaboration: work with marketing, HQ staff, and other teams; update volunteer webpages and support cross-region activities
