Job summary

Compassus is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to lead the volunteer program within our hospice teams. You will join an interdisciplinary team to implement plans of care, recruit and train volunteers, and coordinate patient and family needs with the IDT.

The role involves supervising volunteers, ensuring training, background checks, and health screenings, and maintaining program records. You will communicate across departments and deliver regular volunteer education and in-services.

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills (add/subtract/multiply/divide) and ability to work with percentages.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to read and interpret business materials.
• Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English; ability to delegate and monitor multiple activities.

Responsibilities

• Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Promotes use of volunteers to support patient care needs.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and retain volunteers; manage workload and performance.
• Ensure background checks and health screenings are completed for volunteers.
• Maintain records of recruitment, retention, and volunteer utilization per regulations.
• Communicate patient and family needs to the IDT; provide volunteer education to the team.
• Deliver volunteer trainings and at least 4 in-services per year.
• Coordinate budget and expenses for the volunteer program.
