Job summary

Appalachia Service Project is seeking a Volunteer and Field Operations Coordinator based in Johnson City, Tennessee. The role supports ASP’s East Tennessee Hub by coordinating volunteer engagement, managing field logistics, and handling construction administration tasks across the service area.

The position requires frequent travel between sites and counties in east Tennessee, with irregular hours. You will work closely with the East Tennessee Construction Superintendent and ASP staff to ensure

Qualifications

• 1-year previous work experience in construction management or a similar role.
• Basic knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and construction management processes.
• Able to multitask and manage time efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
• Highly organized with the ability to plan ahead and work well in a team.
• Willingness to work in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-construction readiness including obtaining permits, approvals, and inspection schedules.
• Coordinate utility setup for construction operations.
• Maintain records related to permits, inspections, and compliance.
• Track milestones to support schedules and grant requirements.
• Coordinate inspections and follow up with ASP staff and local jurisdictions.
• Manage inventory of materials, tools, and equipment; ensure sites are organized and ready for activity.
• Coordinate delivery, transport, and setup of materials and equipment.
• Assist with bulk material ordering and ensure timely deliveries.
• Coordinate on-site dumpsters and waste removal.
• Ensure materials are secured on worksites.
