Job summary

Calvert County Government is seeking a dedicated professional to develop and maintain an effective volunteer program within Education & Special Programs. The role involves recruiting volunteers, conducting interviews, coordinating orientation, and writing volunteer descriptions.

You will plan and execute community events, manage volunteer records, and prepare annual budgets. This position requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to work weekends and evenings when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
• Two years of experience working with volunteers.
• Background investigation required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience planning and coordinating events preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, orient and place volunteers; develop/update volunteer descriptions.
• Coordinate volunteer activities; provide training on museum and community topics.
• Prepare newsletters and articles about volunteer activities.
• Maintain volunteer records; generate reports on hours and value of service.
• Assist with fundraising and budgeting for the volunteer program.
• Liaise with Volunteer Council and department liaisons.
