Job summary

Center For Hope And Safety Inc is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Coordinator in Bergen County, NJ. The role focuses on developing and sustaining a volunteer program that supports safety, empowerment, advocacy, and healing for survivors of domestic violence and their families.

In collaboration with the Chief Development and Communications Officer, this position oversees recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, communication, recognition, and retention of volunteers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience coordinating volunteers or nonprofit programs is preferred.
• Experience in human services, nonprofit, domestic violence, or community-based organizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers who align with the mission and needs of Center for Hope & Safety.
• Build relationships with community organizations, schools, businesses, faith-based groups, civic groups, and other sources with the Development team.
• Respond to volunteer inquiries with clear information on opportunities, expectations, qualifications, and time commitments.
• Conduct volunteer screening, interviews, background checks, and onboarding in line with policies.
• Identify volunteer needs and appropriate opportunities with program and administrative leaders.
• Match volunteers with assignments based on skills, interests, availability, training, and requirements.
• Develop and maintain volunteer schedules for program coverage, events, and activities.
• Coordinate volunteer participation in events and outreach initiatives.
• Maintain confidential volunteer records including applications, screenings, training, and hours.
