Job summary

The Ability Center in Ohio is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to build relationships and create meaningful volunteer experiences, primarily for Assistance Dogs volunteers. You will recruit, onboard, develop, engage, recognize, and retain volunteers while ensuring they have the necessary training, resources, and support to succeed.

You will work closely with program staff to recruit and onboard volunteers, provide ongoing guidance, and collaborate with HR and communications to strengthen

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor's preferred.
• Three+ years in volunteer coordination or related field preferred.
• Experience with volunteer programs and multiple roles preferred.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Ability to travel and work some evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, screening, onboarding, and retention for Assistance Dogs volunteers.
• Serve as primary contact for volunteers, providing guidance and support.
• Oversee daily volunteer operations with program staff.
• Develop education, mentoring, and leadership opportunities for volunteers.
• Plan orientations, trainings, and appreciation events.
• Track engagement, hours, and retention; report to leadership.
• Collaborate with HR and Communications to support organization-wide volunteer initiatives.
• Build community partnerships to source volunteers.
