Job summary

Cincinnati Animal CARE is seeking a Dog Training Coordinator to lead training and enrichment for shelter dogs and to supervise volunteers and staff. The role supports the RAD program, conducts training sessions, and coordinates in-home plans for transitioning dogs to homes.

The position involves developing and implementing training programs, working with a diverse team, and ensuring high standards of animal welfare and client service in a fast-paced shelter environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Behavior, Animal Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience in canine behavior and training in a shelter setting beneficial.
• Knowledge of modern positive reinforcement methods (LIMA) and safe handling.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized training, enrichment, and behavioral monitoring to dogs.
• Instruct handling classes for volunteers and staff, including weekends/holidays.
• Develop in-home training plans for RAD dogs or those with specialized needs.
• Maintain RAD Dog Training Program and ensure daily training for dogs.
• Collaborate with the Behavior and Training Team to transfer plans to foster/adoptive homes.
• Train staff and volunteers in safe dog play and introductions.
• Lead and supervise volunteers for training and enrichment activities.
• Provide virtual and in-person training to fosters or adopters after placement.
