Job summary

Mission Action is seeking a full-time Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist to build and support the volunteer and community engagement structure for the Rapid Response Hotline. The ideal candidate will excel in communication, volunteer coordination, training, and community organizing, with Spanish fluency preferred.

The role emphasizes collaboration with legal and outreach teams, data management, and relationship-building with volunteers and partner organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences, nonprofit management, or related field.
• Experience in volunteer coordination, community organizing, or training.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
• Familiarity with volunteer management software and databases is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; Spanish proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers for the Rapid Response Hotline.
• Develop and deliver orientation programs and training materials.
• Manage volunteer schedules and coordinate logistics with partners.
• Track volunteer hours and maintain accurate records.
• Recognize volunteer contributions and build leadership pathways.
• Create content for social media and informational materials about hotline.
• Draft press materials and support community outreach as needed.
• Monitor engagement and report program impact.
