The Media Group at NBCU supports a powerhouse collection of consumer‑first brands including Peacock, NBC, Bravo, NBC Sports, and NBCU International. The Video Software Engineering team is looking for Engineering Managers to grow and develop engineering talent and build inclusive, high‑performing teams.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead inclusive, high‑performing engineering teams to design, build, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable, high‑quality and high‑performance applications and workflows.
- Work closely with teams across Peacock technology (Engineering/Product/Project Management and Backend Technology Services) to build highly scalable and reliable video infrastructure, including routing policies/tools and services to deliver high‑quality streaming service and manage video workflows.
- Analyze business requirements, design and develop software applications to support business; meet with product and business owners to solve complex problems with advanced technical solutions.
- Participate in designing and architecting solutions, oversee development and software unit testing procedures and validations, and supervise database design, development, queries, stored procedures, triggers, and maintenance.
- Develop software solutions based on operations; collaborate with colleagues to study system flow, data usage, work processes, investigate problem areas, and follow the software development lifecycle.
- Implement video streaming in MPEG‑DASH, HLS and associated delivery and encryption technologies and work with GoLang, JavaScript, AngularJS/React, MongoDB, cloud services, and incident management tools.
- Evaluate operational feasibility through analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions; document and demonstrate solutions with technical designs, specifications, flowcharts, diagrams, code, etc.
- Ensure all systems are properly unit and system integrated tested, defects documented and fixed, and delivered on time following SDLC processes.
- Prepare and install solutions by designing system specifications, standards, and programming; deliver product roadmaps, reports, status incrementally.
- Drive technical initiatives in partnership with senior engineers across multiple teams; search for improvements, enhance existing applications with new features, resolve defects.
- Grow the team by attracting diverse talent that pushes technical boundaries; mentor individuals to embrace diversity and build an inclusive workplace.
- Support, coach and develop high‑performing engineers through regular 1:1s, continuous feedback and relationships with others, and mentor individuals.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of prior software development experience at senior level.
- Understanding of how a high‑performing team of engineers looks like.
- Understanding deadlines, constraints and scope of delivery and experience working with business partners to balance expectations and handle risks.
- Ability to integrate into a large agile development project and manage rapid development cycles.
- Analytical problem solver with strong sense of autonomy and an open collaborative approach.
- Interest in promoting an inclusive team culture where engineers of diverse backgrounds can grow.

- Salary range: $140,000 – $200,000 (bonus eligible).
