Job summary

Versant Media is seeking a Senior Director, Platform Engineering to lead architecture, delivery, and operation of our content and video platform ecosystem across broadcast and digital products. You will own end-to-end content and video delivery, including client integrations, TV Everywhere, DTC authentication, and streaming pipelines.

The role requires directing platforms for live and on-demand content, steering observability, and driving performance improvements.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering or streaming platform experience.
• Expertise in serverless and event-driven architectures.
• Deep knowledge of HLS/DASH, DRM, and player frameworks.
• Experience with AVOD monetization and ad tech integrations.
• Experience building large-scale video platforms.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent communication at executive and engineering levels.

Responsibilities

• Define and own Platform Architecture & Strategy for content & asset delivery across web, mobile, and connected TV platforms.
• Oversee client & playback engineering including SDKs across web, iOS, Android, and CTV.
• Lead video processing & delivery pipelines for live and VOD workflows including encoding, transcoding, clipping, and publishing.
• Own authentication, authorization & user flows for TVE and DTC, including identity and session management.
• Define end-to-end observability strategy with SLOs, performance monitoring, and real-time diagnostics.
• Build and lead engineering teams, set standards, and drive delivery excellence across multiple initiatives.
• Partner with Product, Ad Tech, Data, and Editorial teams to deliver integrated video experiences.
