Job summary

The Salvation Army-Owens Campus is seeking a program coordinator to support vocational education services and client readiness efforts in a community-based setting.

You will screen applicants, develop individualized service plans, and conduct weekly case management, coordinating with partners to place clients into suitable training and employment opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in guidance and counseling, psychology, vocational rehabilitation or related field; or 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, e-mail, and the Internet.
• Strong interpersonal, telephone, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organizational and file management skills.
• Ability to work in a team setting with other professionals.
• Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule, address multiple projects promptly, and take projects from beginning through completion.
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
• Must possess a Nevada driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle record check.
• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with the academic components of vocational education.
• Screen applicants for program admissions based on established criteria.
• Complete a job readiness evaluation of each vocational client.
• Prepare an Individual Service Plan for each client.
• Conduct weekly case management on each client and prepare written case notes for client files.
• Present program services to the public and recruit clients for the Vocational Job Readiness program and coordinate all efforts to get clients enrolled with community partners.
• Perform problem resolution with clients and touch base weekly with clients who are working.
• Send monthly performance evaluations to each department for clients performing on-the-job training.
• Make classroom presentations of program materials as needed.
• Attend all vocational staff meetings.
• Knowledge of local Community Resources and prepare referrals for clients needing additional supportive services for eyewear, clothing, drug court, mandated court appearances, and NA/AA meetings.
• Prepare a discharge summary for all clients exiting the program.
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
