Job summary

New York City Office of Technology & Innovation (OTI) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Infrastructure Management Division in Brooklyn, NY. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining VMware infrastructure and related components in an enterprise environment.

The successful candidate will automate provisioning and lifecycle management with Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, and scripting languages, develop IaC modules, and collaborate with storage, network, security, and cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 24 credits in telecommunications or related field or four years of relevant experience.
• Associate degree with 12 credits in telecommunications or related area and five years of experience.
• Equivalent education/experience to listed options with required high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware infrastructure (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter).
• Support and optimize enterprise-scale virtualized environments.
• Automate provisioning and configuration with Ansible, Terraform, PowerCLI, and scripts.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions, including Terraform modules.
• Implement automation workflows for VM provisioning, patching, and compliance.
• Troubleshoot virtualization, performance, and availability issues.
• Collaborate with storage, network, security, and cloud teams.
• Assist with capacity planning, disaster recovery, and high availability designs.
• Document architecture and automation standards.
