Job summary

Valiant Technologies LLC is seeking a VMware & Cloud Support Engineer to join our enterprise environment in New Jersey. The role focuses on maintaining, optimizing, and securing VMware and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) with emphasis on high availability and performance.

The candidate will handle administration, incident management, backups, and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Terraform. Collaboration with multiple teams ensures reliable infrastructure for critical services.

Qualifications

• VMware ESXi/vCenter/vSphere/vSAN/NSX expertise required.
• Cloud platform fundamentals for AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Networking incl. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, load balancers.
• Experience with backup tools (Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik).
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident management.
• Scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
• Strong communication and thorough documentation skills.

Responsibilities

Role Overview:

The VMware & Cloud Support Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving enterprise virtualization environments built on VMware technologies, along with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security across hybrid infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• VMware Administration — Manage ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, resource pools, DRS/HA, vMotion, and storage integrations.
• Cloud Platform Support — Provide operational support for AWS/Azure/GCP services, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and monitoring.
• Incident & Problem Management — Diagnose and resolve virtualization and cloud-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Performance Optimization — Monitor system health, tune workloads, and optimize resource utilization.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery — Implement and support backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, etc.) and DR strategies for virtual and cloud workloads.
• Security & Compliance — Apply patches, enforce security baselines, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
• Automation & Scripting — Use PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Terraform to automate routine tasks and deployments.
• Documentation — Maintain detailed SOPs, architecture diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaboration — Work with DevOps, Networking, Security, and Application teams to support business initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• VMware Expertise — ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, vSAN, NSX (preferred).
• Cloud Knowledge — AWS/Azure/GCP fundamentals, cloud networking, IAM, monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Experience with backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik).
• Familiarity with ITIL processes.
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.

Preferred Certifications:

• VMware VCP (Data Center Virtualization or Network Virtualization)
• CompTIA Cloud+, Network+, or Security+
• ITIL Foundation

Experience Requirements:

• 2–6 years of hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization.
• 1–4 years of experience supporting cloud environments.
• Experience in enterprise IT support or infrastructure operations.
