Job summary

Houston Rockets – Toyota Center seeks a Security Technology Systems Manager to oversee the venue's video management system, security screens, and venue operations. The role ensures reliable camera coverage, data security and rapid incident response, serving as the primary contact for VMS issues and 24/7 operations.

The role requires 3–5+ years in VMS or physical security, familiarity with Genetec/Milestone/Avigilon, and strong IT knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in security management, information technology, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5+ years’ experience in VMS, physical security, or networked surveillance.
• Familiarity with VMS platforms (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Hanwha, or equivalent) and basic networking concepts.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations and evidence handling procedures.
• Extensive IT knowledge including PCs, operating systems, switches, routers and firewalls.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and reporting skills.
• Budget and vendor management experience; training security staff on VMS and privacy practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage VMS, hardware devices, cameras, access control readers, storage, servers, and related equipment.
• Ensure continuous camera coverage and respond to incidents and alarms.
• Maintain system documentation, configurations, access controls, retention policies, and audit logs.
• Coordinate with IT for network/server issues and perform routine maintenance.
• Generate health reports and resolve system-critical issues.
• Manage user access, permissions, and data privacy compliance for VMS.
• Plan system upgrades, expansions, and vendor maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Conduct regular health checks, firmware updates, and risk assessments.
• Develop SOPs for incident reporting and evidence handling.
• Collaborate with Security, Facilities, and local authorities as needed.
