Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Alameda, CA is hiring an Animal Care Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team. You will provide the highest animal welfare standards and care, and maintain vivarium cleanliness.

The position is full-time with a 40-hour week, Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with rotating holiday coverage. Responsibilities include feeding and housing animals per SOPs, health observations, biosafety adherence, accurate record-keeping, and maintaining

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 0–6 months of direct laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility.
• Willing to travel to other locations using your own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high standards of animal welfare.
• Provide food, water and clean housing to animals per SOPs.
• Perform routine health observations on animals.
• Monitor temperature and humidity and report issues.
• Receive, unpack, and house animals per SOP and Animal Receiving Form.
• Follow proper room entry order and biosafety requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and organize supply areas.
• Maintain vivarium cleanliness and waste removal per SOPs.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Animal Science or Life Sciences

AALAS Certification at the ALAT level
