Job summary

Charles River Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an Animal Care Technician to join our Insourcing Solutions team in California.

In this role you will perform cage wash, general husbandry and provide investigative support following established protocols to help support animal care and welfare. You will maintain records, monitor health, handle rodents, assist in receiving and stocking supplies, and operate equipment like cage washers and autoclaves.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related discipline or CVT/LVT/RVT.
OR High School Diploma/GED and one year related husbandry and technical experience.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa.

Responsibilities

Provide general husbandry and perform cage change procedures following customer Guidance Documents.
Perform daily health observations and report abnormalities and common signs of illness.
Handle and restrain rodents.
Maintain accurate records of facility procedures and metrics.
Perform routine sanitation and keep the facility clean and organized.
Provide study support on non-invasive techniques like animal fasting, weight and water measurement.
Operate husbandry equipment (cage washers, autoclaves, laminar air flow cabinets) using approved validation technologies.
