Job summary

Charles River Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an Animal Care Technician for the Cambridge, MA Insourcing Solutions team. You will perform routine animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, cleaning, and maintaining animal care environments within the CRADL facility.

You will handle animals and supplies, monitor health, operate cage washers, and keep thorough documentation. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to SOPs, with ALAT certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in animal or life sciences preferred.
• 0–6 months directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility.
• ALAT certification from AALAS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle, transfer, and deliver animals, supplies, and waste as needed.
• Perform daily cage duties and sanitation procedures.
• Monitor daily animal health and welfare with routine observations.
• Operate cage washers and autoclaves to sterilize equipment.
• Maintain QA documentation and logs for equipment and rooms.
• Record animal health concerns in accordance with SOPs and protocols.
• Report procedural questions or training needs to team lead or supervisor.
• Perform humane euthanasia following established guidelines.
• Monitor client rack and row assignments for proper labeling.
• Keep animal rooms and facilities clean and organized.
