Job summary

The Florida Department of Health – Indian River region in VERO BEACH is seeking an OPS Fiscal Assistant II. This entry-level role supports Vital Statistics and the Business Office by performing a variety of accounting and clerk duties under supervision.

The position includes assisting clients with birth and death records, handling deposits, reconciliations, mail logs, journal entries, and ensuring compliance with applicable statutes. In-office work is required, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Clear, effective communication under varying conditions.
• Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.
• Basic accounting/bookkeeping knowledge.
• Proficiency with email, spreadsheets and databases.

Responsibilities

• Assist with issuing birth and death records (Deputy Registrar in Vital Statistics).
• Perform back-up duties for daily deposits, reconciliations and journal entries.
• Process mail logs and deposits; ensure GAAP compliance.
