Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health Coastal Health District is seeking a part-time, hourly vital records clerk to assist customers with birth and death certificate inquiries and to process related documents with accuracy.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 12 months of customer-service experience. Proficiency in computers (Microsoft Office) and basic data entry is preferred; familiarity with VitalChek and state procedures is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 12 months of experience handling customer questions, complaints, or providing information.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic data entry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with inquiries regarding birth and death certificates and provide professional, courteous service.
• Process birth/death certificates, paternity acknowledgments, legitimations, and corrections per state rules.
• Register death certificates with accuracy and communicate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Submit tickets to SOVR to resolve record or system-related issues.
• Verify and process Certificate requests via Vital Chek; maintain confidentiality and comply with policies.
