Job summary

United Way of the Plains is seeking a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program Manager to lead tax preparation services across multiple sites and online self‑filing options. The role partners with IRS, KDOR, and SPEC programs to deliver accessible services to qualified individuals, while representing the organization with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, detail oriented, and able to manage several projects simultaneously during tax season.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated high accuracy and problem solving.
• Strong relationship and team‑building skills with ability to lead others.
• Self‑motivated with ability to manage multiple priorities and flexible.
• Availability for tax-season evenings and Saturdays.
• VITA training and IRS requirements will be provided.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social services, program planning, or tax services.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute in‑person and virtual VITA tax services and site locations.
• Conduct outreach to partners and stakeholders to expand service access.
• Coordinate volunteer recruitment, retention, and program promotion.
• Develop, implement, and report essential VITA program components.
• Develop and supervise volunteer training and site operations oversight.
• Manage grant reporting, budgets, and collaboration with partners.
• Prepare required forms for IRS SPEC and VITA grants.
