Job summary

SFUSD is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator (S20V) to assist visually impaired students under the supervision of a teacher. You will adapt lessons and support access to curriculum across multiple sites during part-time, school-term schedules.

Responsibilities include assisting with lesson planning, administering tests, maintaining pupil profiles, and helping with instructional equipment. The role emphasizes collaboration, literacy support, and safety in classrooms and on field trips.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or higher; or 48 college units and a high school diploma
• CBEST and a high school diploma
• Keyboarding ability
• Ability to learn new technology
• Continuing education coursework in Braille and/or related vision-impaired background preferred

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a teacher/administrator, assist in the direct delivery of instruction for pupils eligible for special education services under Blind/Vision-Impaired.
• Assist in planning lessons and preparing instructional materials individualized to the needs of students with visual impairments.
• Supervise and/or tutor individuals or small groups; conduct planned lessons; explain subject matter; administer tests and review work; maintain pupil profiles; assist in evaluating pupils.
• Prepare, operate and maintain instructional equipment and supplies; assist in maintaining classroom discipline and safety; support students during field trips and school activities.
