Job summary

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator S20V to support students with visual impairments under IEP/IFSP guidance. You will implement lesson plans, review student work, and assist certificated staff with instructional activities and parent conferences.

Responsibilities include administering tests, maintaining pupil profiles, operating instructional technology, and helping with classroom discipline and safety.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher or 48 college units and a high school diploma.
• Diploma or passing of CBEST and a high school diploma.
• Keyboarding ability.
• Ability to learn new technology as student needs and equipment change.
• Continuing education coursework in Braille and/or related vision-impaired background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning lessons and preparing instructional materials individualized to the needs of students with visual-impairments.
• Supervise and/or tutor individuals or small groups of pupils in specific skills and/or content areas.
• Conduct planned lessons with assigned groups in the classroom or other educational location.
• Explain subject matter; administer tests and examinations, review and correct assignments, and maintain pupil profiles.
• Assist in evaluating pupils and maintaining records not required by law to be kept by certificated personnel.
• Prepare and maintain instructional equipment and supplies and manage logistics.
• Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and behavior management among pupils.
• Assist students in navigating school facilities and travel training as required.
