Job summary

South San Francisco Unified School District seeks a Paraprofessional I - Special Education to support certificated teachers in designated classrooms. You will reinforce instruction for individuals or small groups of students with mild to moderate special needs, tutor students, and assist with behavior management and materials preparation.

Responsibilities also include providing routine clerical support and helping maintain a positive learning environment under supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent GED and some experience working with children.
• Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 units) or obtained an associate’s or higher degree.
• May demonstrate knowledge of reading, writing, and mathematics through a formal assessment.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce instruction to individual or small groups under the teacher's direction.
• Tutor students and support behavior management in the classroom.
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and provide routine clerical support.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and some experience

48 units (two years of college) or higher degree

Pass a rigorous assessment demonstrating reading/writing/mathematics support
