Job summary

The Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, PA is seeking a Visitor Services Associate to manage the front desk, selling admissions, memberships, and related products while delivering exceptional guest service and product knowledge.

You’ll operate the POS system, handle cash, upsell memberships, answer inquiries, and support events and exhibits to ensure a welcoming, informative visit for every guest.

Qualifications

• Current high school students actively pursuing a diploma within the next year.

Responsibilities

• Welcome visitors and provide high-level knowledge of programs and events.
• Operate POS system and handle cash responsibly.
• Open/close Visitor Services, count cash, set up registers, ensure devices are charged.
• Serve as cashier, check in visitors and follow cash control policies.
• Process coupons, discounts, group, consignment and complimentary tickets.
• Promote and sell memberships to visitors, converting walk-ins to members.
• Generate attendance and membership reports as needed.
• Acquire knowledge of all programs to upsell and guide visitors to destinations (birthday parties, events, rentals).
• Create physical membership cards and understand related procedures.
• Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and transfer calls as needed.
• Support daily operations and assist on exhibit floor and with group visits.
• Monitor facilities and safety for sinks, restrooms, and lobby areas.
• Execute emergency plans per policies and contribute to DEI commitments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Visitor Services Associate is responsible for covering the Visitor Services desk and lobby. This role involves selling admissions, memberships, and related products, while maintaining a thorough knowledge of Da Vinci Science Center programs and events. The Associate will provide exceptional customer service to all visitors, ensuring a positive and informative experience.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome visitors to DSC and provide a high level of customer service and knowledge of programs and events to all visitors.
• Maintain proficiency in POS system operations and ensure understanding of key responsibilities associated with its use.
• Execute the opening and closing of Visitor Services, including counting cash drawers at the start and end of each shift, setting up and dismantling registers, ensuring all electronic devices are fully charged, providing guests with maps, and completing additional tasks as assigned.
• Serve as a cashier, accurately and efficiently checking in visitors while following all cash control policies.
• Process all coupons, discounts, group, consignment and complimentary tickets according to established standards and procedures.
• Promote and sell memberships to visitors, including converting walk-in ticket buyers to members.
• Generate reports related to attendance, memberships, or other business metrics as required to support organizational needs.
• Acquire thorough knowledge of all DSC programs and events to effectively upsell, answer questions, and guide visitors to their desired destinations including birthday parties, special events, facility rentals and auxiliary services.
• Create physical membership cards for members and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the procedures involved.
• Answer incoming phone calls, respond to voicemail and inquiries, and transfer calls to the appropriate extensions.
• Support daily operations as needed, including but not limited to assisting on the exhibit floor, providing support for group visits, events, and helping with basic facilities-related tasks to ensure a smooth and welcoming visitor experience.
• Monitor Visitor Services, Coat room, first floor restrooms and haven room for safety and cleanliness.
• Execute emergency plans by following all policies and procedures.
